Permanent projizieren wir auf Andere. Vollumfassend können wir einen anderen Menschen nie greifen. Wir meinen jemanden richtig zu kennen, aber meist stellen wir nur Vermutungen an.
„NUANCE“ zeigt erweiterte Portraits, die Stimmungen und feine Nuancen an die Oberfläche bringen.
Zusammen mit der Fotografin wurden individuelle Motive erarbeitet, die per Lichtprojektion während des Shootings in Dialog mit den fotografierten Personen treten.
So entstehen im Zusammenspiel von Licht und Schatten ästhetische Kompositionen, in denen die Portraitierten mit den Projektionen zu neuen Formen verschmelzen oder sich von diesen absetzen. Ergebnis dieser Überlagerung von Person und Projektion sind intime, intensive Portraits, die ein Stück Wesenhaftes, Unverstelltes einfangen.
Mimi Vollgraf ist eine in Berlin lebende, europaweit arbeitende Fotografin und Art Directorin mit Fokus auf Portrait- und Modefotografie. Ihre fotografische Arbeit zeichnet sich durch stimmungsvolle Kompositionen und die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit Licht und Schatten aus. Während ihrer lang jährigen Tätigkeit als Designerin und Art-Direktorin in der Lebensmittel- und Modebranche entdeckte sie ihre Liebe zur Fotografie und machte sich 2020 während ihres Fotografiestudiums als freiberufliche Fotografin selbstständig. Im Sommer 2023 absolviert sie ihren Abschluss an der Neuen Schule für Fotografie, Berlin.

Permanently we project onto others. We can never fully understand another person. We think we really know someone, but most of the time we only make assumptions.
„NUANCE“ shows extended portraits that reveal moods and subtle nuances to the surface.
Together with the photographer, individual motifs were developed, which enter into dialogue with the photographed persons via light projection during the shooting.
Thus, the interplay of light and shadow creates aesthetic compositions in which the subjects merge with the projections, creating new forms or standing out from them. The result of this overlapping of person and projection are intimate, intense portraits that capture a piece of the essential, the unveiled.
Mimi Vollgraf is a Berlin-based photographer and art director working across Europe with focus on portrait and fashion photography. Her photographic work is characterised by atmospheric compositions and the artistic exploration of light and shadow. During her many years as a designer and art director in the food and fashion sector, she discovered her love of photography and set up her own business as a freelance photographer in 2020. She also began studying photography in the same year, which she will complete in the summer of 2023 at the Neue Schule für Fotografie, Berlin.
